From Kelly's Happy Little Laptop:
OH - so much to talk about!
I didn't do an update email yesterday, but I DID post jobs for yesterday. So if you haven't seen those, they are listed there with today's jobs.
OK.... so...
Whitney Houston. I am - so sad about her death. (How do you feel about it?) Although the cause is still unknown - I doubt years of drug abuse helped. It's just kinda sad how pics of the bathroom she died in have surfaced, the food she ate before she died.....
I think in reality, she was shy, self conscious - not really a big diva. Fame is certainly a double edged sword. The adoration, the money, the glamour of it is enticing and "appears" to be such a huge blessing. But I think it destroys a lot of people too. We all hurt when we're made fun of, fail in front of others, make mistakes. We all feel our bodies aren't perfect. We pick apart our flaws. And with fame, how do you know who to trust? So many jump on the bandwagon of a famous person simply for the ride. There is no loyalty.
I personally cannot imagine being famous and having every bite of food I eat in public becoming a photo opp, or being chased by paparazzi while my children are with me. Let alone an album flopping or a movie that fails at the box office.
Luckily - I am not famous. LOL I could not handle it. Too much pressure.
Speaking of pressure - my jeans are too tight. OMG - my efforts at dropping a few pounds has stalled. I feel like since I started doing my nightly power walks, the scale is going UP UP UP!? I'm back to writing down every calorie and every gram of fat. It's the ONLY way I can really monitor what I'm eating.
As a matter of fact - my husband (awesome man that he is!!) got me gorgeous roses, an armpocket for my iphone (which is SOOO handy when I'm walking - holds my iphone, chapstick, keys and kleenex!) and a little 4-piece box of chocolates. Why only 4 pieces? He knows I'm trying to watch my weight. So anyway....I am looking at the box to see how many calories and it says a serving is ALL 4 PIECES! I'm thrilled. I'm gonna eat them all. Oh - but wait. It's 50 grams of fat and 240 calories to eat the whole box. YIKES!!! Not what I want to do. So I picked ONE chocolate as my after lunch treat. That's a more reasonable 12.5 grams of fat and 60 calories. And ya know what - I enjoyed that damn chocolate because I knew it was the only one I was getting today.
I for one, have gotten so used to eating sweets EVERY day. And it's ridiculous. You don't need sweets every day. I already had sugar in my coffee this morning - so I didn't really need a chocolate. But I ate it. But if you're really mindful about what you eat - you're amazed by the amount of crap you put into the ONLY body you get in this lifetime.
But I am determined to continue with this 12 pound weight loss. I hate the way the extra weight feels. Ick. So less time sitting, more time doing. And writing down what I eat. Keeps my very mindful of all the calories I consume.
So though it's a day all about over indulging with chocolates and heart shaped cakes and what not -- I'm choosing to have a LITTLE treat and move on. The saying that "thin tastes better" - I'm feeling it. I even made Valentines Day cupcakes and did not eat ONE! You have no idea how amazing this is for me - I promise. Kelly has a sweet tooth. LOL
Anyway..... Happy Valentines Day to you. I hope the day is special. And even if you don't have a sweetheart, it's ok. Run a hot bath, play some pretty music, light candles. Treat yourself!
